Revengeful Suresh Raj and Computer Department
When KUPA was registered, Suresh Raj and Sitaram left no stone unturned in mobilizing their propaganda machinery against the KUPA and faculty members associated with KUPA. In addition, Suresh Raj and Sitaram started using dreaded goondas (henchmen) like Jalan Kumar, as well as notorious Bel Prasad to threaten and even physically attack the righteous employees of KU. Ultimately, when everyone gave cold shoulder to Suresh Raj after duly witnessing his avoidable crimes, Suresh Raj realized that he crossed his limits.
Moreover, even his "Sadhu ra Shiksha" too backfired on him. Amid such spectacular failure, had there been any other person, he would have already quit the VCship of KU. But this is not to happen with Suresh Raj. Because Suresh Raj thinks that KU VCship was evolved for him and he is destined to decorate this post for ever. Obsessed with his VCship of KU, Suresh Raj took back everything he said, he spoke and he publicly pronounced. The sorry reality for Suresh Raj and every body who considers this nonsense as the great personality of Nepal is that with the senate decisions, Suresh Raj lost his ground against the KUPA.
That senate meeting under the chairmanship of honorable Girija Prasa Koirala took Suresh Raj to the task and asked him pointedly whether he promoted nepotism and corruption in KU. In defence, the red faced Suresh Raj could not say anything except muttering his contributions in constructing some buildings. When some other honorable senate members emphatically told Suresh Raj that his corruption is linked with these constructions, Suresh Raj ultimately surrendered and accepted the decision of the senate meeting.
According to that decision of the senate meeting, which was accepted by his executive council in KU also, Suresh Raj and Sitaram should accord permanent legal status to KUPA, the faculty members terminated under 7 years provision and hoards of other demands of KUPA. At the same time, it was agreed that Suresh Raj and his gang in KU would never be vindictive towards any member who directly or indirectly helped, promoted and worked for the rightful KUPA.
Barely a month had passed after these decisions were made, Suresh Raj is now back in his total revengeful form. Considering KUPA and the direct and indirect supporters of KUPA as his number one enemy, both Suresh Raj and Sitaram are now on witch-hunt and attacking highly dignified, righteous and self-respecting faculty members.
After arranging Ph.D. seat in NTNU for his nephew, Manish Pokhrel, who exemplified academic prostitution in KU, Suresh Raj has recently asked one of his staunchest hanuman, Bhola Thapa to function as HOD of Computer Science and Engineering Department. It is not unnatural in KU to have Incharges without Ph.D. in concerned departments if the Incharges truly represented the department. From Bhola Thapa, Brijesh Adhikary, Suresh Bhakta Shrestha, Anand Raj Khanal, Bipul Karki, and Dhaneshwor Mishra, most of the departments in SOE were manned by Incharges with M.E or M.Sc only. These Incharges were appointed from within the departments in order to respect both the essence of the department and the academic activities of the department. This had been the tradition in KU and this is the tradition in any other non-vindictive university.
We are really sad to know that in total violation of established precedence in KU, Suresh Raj has asked his henchman, hanuman and the worst teacher in SOE to man as the HOD of Computer Science and Engineering. Given the utter inability as teacher and total failure as both the HOD of Mechanical and Dean of SOE, Bhola "Hanuman" Thapa should have already left KU. However, habitual to licking the boot and wagging his tail before both Suresh Raj and Sitaram, Bhola Thapa has once again come forward to present himself as HOD of Computer Science and Engineering.
Academic administration demands that Bhola Thapa must know about the computer networks, the operating systems, object oriented modeling and design, programming and specification languages, computer architecture, system level hardware design, multimedia techniques, real-time and embedded systems and many other issues related to computer science and engineering. Despite his unfamiliarity with these subjects, and the essence of these subjects, Bhola "Hanuman" Thapa has dared to present himself as the HOD of Computer Science and Engineering Department. This is what is happening in SOE under the strict instructions of Suresh Raj in order to punish the real saviour of KU like Anup Banskota sir.
Anup Banskota sir is being attacked today for his uprightness as well as his refusal to toe the line of KU administration. After the academic prostitute Manish has left KU, it was natural that Anup Banskota sir or any other senior member of Department of Computer Science and Engineering be appointed as HOD/Incharge to do justice with the essence of the department rather than leaving the department under the control of someone who can not teach any subject in his own department. Yeah, it is the story told innumerable times by the graduates and present students of KU what a great failure Bhola "Hanuman" Thapa is as a teacher in Mechanical Engineering. This is a well proved fact in KU that Bhola "Hanuman" Thapa is neither a successful teacher nor a successful HOD or Dean.
But, vindictiveness of Suresh Raj has something to do with success and failures of Bhola Thapa. In KU, especially in the eyes of Suresh Raj and Sitaram, everyone who licks their boots with great pleasure to them is successful. This has been their standard from the beginning and they have intensified using this standard in the wake of rightful opposition of KUPA. Therefore, in order to victimize, sideline and torture every body who is associated with KUPA, Suresh Raj and Sitaram are now targeting honorable faculties associated with KUPA and KUPA movement.
We are told that Anup Sir is being sidelined from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering for his alleged support to this BLOG. There were many stooges who resented this BLOG from the beginning and they have been casting aspersions on many respected faculties from KU for their secret hands in running this BLOG. In this count, we like to inform both Suresh Raj and Sitaram that Anup Banskota sir has nothing to do with this BLOG and he has never wrote a single sentence in this BLOG. Similarly, we must make clear to everyone that Dr. Sameer Mani Dixit, too, has nothing to do with this BLOG. Therefore, We sincerely request Suresh Raj and Sitaram to remember their solemn promises that they would not be vindictive towards anyone for KUPA movement. And, when the BMC has given the clean chit, they have no business imposing totally non-academic person like Bhola Thapa as HOD of Computer Science and Engineering at the cost of Anup Sir.
Therefore, We strongly demand immediate removal of Bhola Thapa as HOD of Computer Science and Engineering.

Look my dear friends, Whatever is true of Suresh Raj Sharma is also true of Bhola Thapa and Anup Banskota. Why would anybody favour somebody just on the basis of friendship. Those going against Bhola have every right to say he is a hanuman (which is actually a respect for him - i would never promote him beyond a monkey) or bootlicker or a worst teacher, but can we accept the truth that Anup is a big liability in the Computer department? Ask any student in the department and they will simply say gone are the days when there used to be teachers like Drona and Pradip. What is the academic quality of Anup? A graduate degree from IIT? Look at his professional or academic achievements. 1. He has always been cheating in the department by comming two or three days a week. For him loyalty to the institution and students doesnot matter. Has he published any paper of any quality? Has he attended any international conference. I have heard that since he has no guts to do PhD (at least Manish has even if I wonder what he will do in his PhD) Anup is thinking of doing MBA. I heard that he is married to a MBA girl who is working in some bank and she inspired him. Unfortunately, the computer dept is run by TAs, and that too horrible ones. Recently they hired some one like Sudina- who can't utter properly, they have Sameer Kahrel- nephew of another worst Puroshotam Kahrel, and many young people who are browsing the internet for higher education. So suresh RAj is actually making a big farce of computer education. The big question is not whether Manish is fit or Bhola is unfit or Anup is a good alternative, the biggest question is whether Computer department should be continued.
Look my dear friends, EE and ME are doing fine and they will be better in future. But the fate of CE cannot be better in the hands of immature and selfish (like Sanat) people in the department.

To manage the SOE, Bhola is thinking of doing MBA. Unfortunately, the computer dept is run by TAs, and it is yet to be seen how Bhola will generate money for his wife. So suresh RAj is actually making a big farce of computer education by appointing Hanuman like Bhola Thapa in Computer department. The big question is how long students of Computer department should tolerate Manish or Bhola rather than appointing upright faculty members like Anup.

Question of whether Anup sir must be incharge or not is not more serious than asking why Manish is being sent for PhD to NTNU leveraged by KU administration. Yes, department of computer engineering shall remain unfortunate as it has been for past many years. It has been crippled by people like Purusottam and Manish.
While Anup sir might not be a teacher like one of Princeton or MIT, he still has done significant number of good things compared to "done nothing" by Mr Manish. If he has not done well in teaching, we have to measure this on the basis of all other teachers in the department..it is difficult to say who has really taught well.
Mr Manish going to Norway gives a little relief to students.. lets say a hope that a course like Object Oriented Systems will be now atleast be taught or may be some would worry that a cheap grade is lost. No more easy A's ..get contend with B/C people. Infact we heard this news long back and were so happy, but then he never went.
A department that carries more than 300 students along with computer science..never really had an incharge for about six years.. and now there is a successful replacement..that comes from the mechanical department. It is ironic that our visionary the Vice Chancellor and the Registrar along with the other executive members couldn't really find the proper person who is/were there in the department getting frustrated by the mere stupidity of the existing volatile incharge...and now there is a bhola-style HOD. If that is the vision I'll vote for the blind to rule.

Bhola sir.. don't just eat every shit given to you.
Teachers of CSE..if you work together you don't need incharge..anyway dept ran without it for so long..it won't stop. A mere absence of Manish will make it better. Cut his tail off and it'll be best.
Every faculties would at some point agree that Anup sir is the only person at this moment who can chair the department. Incharge never gets extra perks in KU as far as I know. Why Anup sir should even take that position.. just for the sake of long love with KU? I assume he wont eat shit like Bhola. If he is to be an incharge, he should be designated with the rights to handle the deparment in which he can function. KUPA should actively work to reserve the right of the faculties and incharges and I hope that will be achieved.

I am a fourth year student of CE. I am worried with such wide hatredness for so many teachers. Anup sir has good knowledge in his subject, he is dynamic. but I am not sure if he is prepared to become HOD. I am sure he will do a good job to KU if he leaves his company (DASS) and dedicates at KU. I don;t want to comment on Bhola sir, but my ME friends say he is not a good teacher and a good person. I saw his thesis in library. We study advanced mathemetics but he has used the technique we learn in Second year. I am ashamed to know this. I want to question VC sir, is this quality education? Are we paying to learn third grade course?
One question to Kharel sir: Sir, you taught our class and you saw our reaction. How do you still have the courgare to teach in KU. Are you really worried you will not have any job after you leave KU. Don't worry sir, if you want we can donate money for your living for one year. But you have to find a job as data entry after that. What you must understand is you are not acdemically qualified to teach us. You have a background in sociology and history. And a funny degree from KU. Once pushpa sir told some of us how you went to him and cried requesting him to make you pass. Shame on you. If you do not quit we will make you quit. Remember that. You saw the power of students during KUPA andolan. We can accept Bhola sir but not you. You are one million times worthless as a teacher, and sadly you are not seen as a respectable person by students. Why don't you understand that. Remember, if you do not quit, we will THROW you out. KUPA needs to take this issue seriously. How can Suresh Raj allow such attack on the department? Computer must have someone from the department as Incharge or HOD. What does Bhola know about computer? I doubt he knows even simple programming languages.
I am a graduate from KU and from poineer batch of Computer Engineering. I am proud of being KU graduates. I really admire the quality of education that KU provided us.
Be a good student stop all these non-sense politics. Why did you join KU, why not you guys chose other colleges?

I belong to 6th batch of computer department. In my knowledge, Manish Pokhrel did not teach us at all. He gave me A grade for nothing. Not only me, others also got it. I am in US. In those subjects where I get A from Manish, I am the weakest student.
I can not tell my real problems. But wehn I read comments here supporting Suresh Raj and Manish of KU, I feel revolting.
Can any body give me back my innocent years as KU student? We are always exploitd. I do not know what is experience of 1st batch dais. But, they must understand that after their departure, good teachers were not in KU.

Dear all,
Maybe the pioneer days of computer engg. at KU were blessed and guys were taught better in those days. So some of our unseen seniors felt bad when someone from 6th batch commented about the worse condition of the department.
I dunno of politics nor of people. But I know about the education as CSE at KU currently.
We get "A"s for nth done. Guys from EE or ME have regular weekly suggestion and evaluation in project and presentation too. We rarely had any such thing. In those EE and ME project, only some guys gets "A". But even if we guys copy the whole project on the last day of submission, we get "A" for granted. We all know this.
We were not taught even the basics of OOP, which is the base of modern programming world. We still confuse in a first program written in C++, beacuse the whole course is a great wonder here (like in no other universities) as it is without "C++" as a subject. And they say this is modern course.
Probably this is the reason why some people say today that KU guys are very weak at programming part.
Some teacher here write every sentences line to line from the book on whiteboard except very few who are a little better. We have mostly very young and inexperienced teachers. And one very senior post person of Dept. have no backgroud in computer science field, how can he ever have best feelings for a computer engineering being completely sth else himself professionaly ?
Finally, thanks to our loving teachers for "A"s for free. But I want to ask one question - Will you all always be with us in life, whenever we are asked to work in future.
If not, there's no right for you to play with our life making us feel that we deserve "A" for nth in this competitive world. We are becoming an engineer not just to say - "I am an Engineer".
Take the responsibility if you can devote it to youself by time and hardships. Please don't just do it for adding stars to your CV or for other purpose, bcoz' it's badly effecting us and I suppose it will affect us more harsely when we go to workplaces after graduation. Is'nt it ? In each batch, 3-4 students are very talented and others are the same, just tagged as "engineers" which KU gives.
Sorry, if I hurt someone from my bitter words. But we are hurt more than you all. From all these cheap and dirty politics we see in the name of our Dept. and going on everywhere blaming others. From the condition here. We fear of future coz' the only that gets affected are "students". KU was suggested by one of the pioneers of CSE to me, but that time KU was different perhaps, politics had not entered here.
I was just sharing views that I feel and many of my friends (not complaining nor blaming any individual or KU as a whole). Why not we CSE are the best dept. ?
If I was wrong, please someone point that with argument, so that I can learn from my mistake and correct my sadistic views.

I came across this blog long after the article was published...and tried to analyze, was the KU degree so bad? well!! not at all...
After KU , I have studied masters in US and now working as Sr Engineer in one of the top US organization. Looking back, I feel KU provided most important thing that is to never give up... I don't see any C.E. graduate not having decent job here...
Also credit goes to undying spirit of KU graduates...kudo to them...
