End atrocities

The post-KU movement period has been punctuated by a rise in atrocities of Suresh Raj regime against faculties and staffs in KU. Suresh Raj regime, according to latest incidents in KU, has already forced one employee to end his life after threatening him with dire consequences. Suresh Raj and his goons in KU have done all these things in systematic manner to thwart organizational protests against their nepotism and corruption in KU. And without any rhyme or reason, Suresh Raj is expelling people just because they opposed his mindless academic regime in KU. Definitely such acts constitute the height of Suresh Raj's cruelty and they also show to what extent Suresh will go to silence the righteous faculties and staffs.

The actions of Suresh Raj are highly reminiscent of the Gyanendra's regime in that he also tried to gag, jail and kill innocent protestors. The Gyanendra regime was guided by Mandale ideology, much like that of Suresh Raj, which has a scant caring for academic values. So, we can never believe that Suresh Raj is now presiding over in KU for making KU the best university in Nepal. Mobilizing goons, firings staffs and attacking a founder are not the incidents to have taken place in a centre of excellence. People may argue that Suresh Raj has to deal firmly with staffs and teachers of KU to prevent politicization here. Then, these people must know that KU staffs and teachers are not fighting for chairs and positions. They are simply asking for what they deserve in a supposed centre of excellence-dignity, and restoration of academic values along with right to organization and right to dissent.

Suresh Raj regime's tactics of blocking organizational rights and causing problems to stakeholders of KU may not pay off in the long run. His atrocities have already led to untimely death of one Dalit member of KU. Such unpleasant incidents would not have happened but for the threats, intimidations and coercions of Suresh Raj regime in KU. Almost all the faculties and staffs of KU now feel that Suresh Raj has mercilessly killed a growing academia in KU. The tragedy that has befallen now to KU is that it has caused irreparable loss to the goodwill of KU. So, no matter how great his preachings are, Suresh Raj will never be forgotten for bringing such disrepute to KU

The biggest causality of the excesses has been the students of KU. KU students deserve better environment and the only way to provide them good academic condition is through talks. In other universities also, faculties/staffs at one or another occasion were at loggerheads with the administration. However, peaceful talks and expression of sincerity instead of secret machinations and manipulations have resulted into a truce. So whether there is to be truce or more agitations is now at the hands of Suresh Raj and his handful of bootlickers. They must know that their greed for higher positions in KU is harming tuition-fee paying students of KU. The recent months have seen a rise in manipulations of Suresh Raj and his supporters. Keeping the larger interest of KU's students in picture, Suresh Raj must stop these manipulations and atrocities. This is the least we all well-wishers of KU expect from Suresh Raj.
