Power of Words
Words, be it spoken or written, are very powerfull. In one stroke, they can take the people to the highest pedestal as well as to deathbed. No body understands power of words better than writers and bloggers. Wordsmiths are sensitive in that they understand power of words very well. In other words, you can say that sensitive people generally evolve as writers. However, this distinction is very difficult to maintain when we have bloodthirsty Vice-chancellors who are conning the whole world both as educationists and prolific writers. Amidst such confusion, when some writers, whose sole claim to fame are their abilities to pen down weekly columns in support of political affiliations, become ministers, things are bound to be interesting.
No doubt, the VC in question is no other than our Suresh Raj and the minister I have just mentioned is Comrade Pradip Nepal. Suresh Raj writes regularly in dailies, both in vernacular and English, to inform Nepalis that education should be taken care of. While exhorting Nepalis on maladies of Nepali education system, Suresh Raj never discusses nepotism in our academia. Words are powerful that is why Suresh Raj does so. He knows very well that discussing these issues in his write-ups would swell letter’s to the editor column against his preachings. So, he generally sidesteps certain issues and keeps on bragging about his contributions, unique gestures and role of privatization.
On the other hand, Pradip Nepal is more forthright and at times he does not hesitate to criticize his party also. Given his being politician, some one may surmise that certain other peculiarities linked with the power of the words might have made him behave like that. I am not judgemental on this issue. So, I give benefit of doubt to Pradip Nepal and I do not believe that his self-criticisms are laced with ulterior motives. Pradip Nepal generally makes readable columns, articles and they are thought provoking also. This has been possible because this fellow is a gifted writer and he knows not only the power of the words very well but also its positve use.
How many of us like Pradip Nepal’s columns can be fathomed by our eagerness to read his write-ups. His words are so powerful that we eagerly wait for his columns to read first and then to vent our frustrations or support or heap piles of criticisms. I think that after Khangendra Sangroula, Pradip Nepal is another writer from leftist horizon of Nepal who commands respect from all of us. And all these respects have been possible because words from his pen are really powerful and just.
Pradip Nepal and Suresh Raj of KU have been using power of words quite frequently and to their benefits. Materially, Pradip Nepal may not benefit as much as Suresh Raj is benefitting through the power of the words. I am saying so because Pradip Nepal can more readily sacrifice any lucrative position than Suresh Raj. For him using words are to raise consciouness and to open up new avenues of thinking. But for Suresh Raj, it is to raise consciouness on his indispensibility and close up any other possible avenues of thoughts on finding his replacements. Pradip Nepal uses power of words to correct the system, but Suresh Raj uses it to perpetuate decadents ideas and values. Power of words can be both used and misused. Pradip Nepal and Suresh Raj are fitting exampls.
We would have never objected had Suresh Raj used the power of words to save his chair in KU. Like any other individual, Suresh Raj is also entitled to give his defence and make his stake for another term as VC in KU. If everybody buys, in that situation, his arguments and let him be VC of KU for life, why should we bother to poke our bloody nose into his affairs? But, Suresh Raj breached an inviolable boundary of the power of words by using it not for saving his chair but for destroying a human life. Definitely, the power of the words can sometimes be highly poisonous also. And this is what has proved by untimely death of Buddhi Bahadur Bishwakarma.
What words Suresh Raj and Bhola Thapa used against Buddhi Bahadur would remain an unsolved mystery in KU. Neither Suresh Raj would ever write lenghty columns on these words nor Bhola Thapa would go on talking in his broken english about these words. Both of them are guility and responsible for misusing darker sides of the power of the words. And these darker side of power of words is what make us more worried today.
Having lost a comrade in this revolution, we know very well that the corrupt administrators of KU are also equally possessed with powerful but deadly words. Combined with their ill-gotten wealth and ability to mobilise favour seeking communal/racist elements all over the world, they can turn black into white. This is so because power of words grows asymptotically when drenched in giddy bundles of corrupt wealth. This is what our comrades need to know in KU. These lowly creatures without morality will say anything to diffuse total resistance against them. And sometimes, some other lowly creatures too come to their rescue by presenting himself/herself as an innocent caught in crossfire. Educated by insurgency in Nepal, these corrupt administrators are cunning enough to use some imposters as innocent victims.
Power of words are more dexterously used by corrupt, nepotistic and ruthless administrators in Nepal than wordsmith columnists or ministers. Corrupt, murderers and accuseds have no other option than to unleash darker words to save their skin. Others may not understand this, but people who play with words must understand this. We understand this and hope that Pradip Nepal also understands this. In that case, there is no option before Pradip Nepal to kick Suresh Raj out of KU and constitute a judicial probe commission to probe into OFFICIAL HARRASSMENT TRIGGERED SUICIDE of Buddhi Bahadur Bishwakarma.

I have read somewhere that there is some thing fishy about Dr. Rupak Aryal. Is his younger sister married now? People who have information, please let us know.
