Buddhi and Engineering Faculties
The recent incidents in KU are glaring examples of intellectual bankruptcy and corruption that have plagued our higher education system. Suresh Raj regime has thrown out Amit Verma and Surendra K.C. while they are demanding probe into official harassment triggered suicide of Late Buddhi Bahadur Biswokarma. Instead of taking action against the culprits who badmouthed, berated and threatened to defame Late Bishwokarma, Suresh Raj regime is now protecting the same culprit. Rather Suresh Raj is busy shamelessly plotting against everyone who is protesting against the whole episode.
Why a Vice-chancellor is trying to shield the accused that happens to be dean only?
Cannot Suresh Raj understand travails and sorrows in the statements of Buddhi Bahadur’s wife?
How long Suresh Raj can crush the voice of hapless Dalits who have been abused, exploited and harassed for centuries in Nepal?
The whole incident in KU has mired the good reputation of KU while devouring the fate of millions of Nepalis that there is a fair and equitable organization in Nepal. The nepotistic authorities on the top are so corrupt that their eyesight doesn’t have the capacity to distinguish between the right and the wrong. Most of the faculties and staffs of Engineering, on the other hand, have revealed grossly unprofessional behavior by keeping mum, or in other words, have not shown any professional integrity. They are happy to maintain their loyalty to a Dean, whom the deceased’s wife has categorically mentioned to have involved in threatening. It is very unfortunate that such people prefer to be called engineers of our society.
I would like to mention a few things here for people who are still not very clear about why they should not lick the boots of these blood-thirsty deans. We all know that Bhola Thapa acted at the instance of Suresh Raj. As Bhola Thapa became dean of SOE through his bootlicking, he tried to please Suresh Raj by unleashing merciless diatribe against everyone who sought membership in KUPA or KUSA. He wanted to dwindle down Engineering’s participation in KU movement and create an atmosphere of solidarity with corrupt, nepotistic and highly casteist Suresh Raj. While doing so, Bhola Thapa forgot that unlike him Buddhi Bahadur Thapa has been working righteously using his merits and not on the basis of being someone’s camp follower and boot licker. Buddhi Bahadur always worked for the betterment of KU, for the betterment of Engineering and for the betterment of Mechanical Department. And despite his good works, he never got a chance to upgrade himself and improve his qualities.
Many so-called Engineers used KU’s funds and got themselves upgraded with higher qualifications. But, a technician is never given such opportunities in KU. Budhhi, therefore, stood for equality for all and honor and self-respect for all. Therefore, he joined KUSA and tried to give his support to present movement against highhandedness of Suresh Raj and his nepotism in KU. He did so because a just structure is possible in KU with ouster of Suresh Raj only. So, Buddhi took very conscious decision of joining KUSA and started involving himself in KU movement. So, all the engineers of SOE need to know that had Buddhi not joined KUSA and kept on licking the boots of Suresh Raj, Sitaram, Bhola, and other Parases, he would have not lost his life. The sacrifice of Buddhi is a challenge to every faculty and every other staffs of Engineering to break the shackle of fear and raise the voice as a man. If these faculties and staffs are not cowards and chickens, what the hell prevents them to lend their voice for common good? Buddhi has shown you people what sacrifice means and how cruel people can become just to maintain their dominance in such a small organization.
Engineering faculties must know that the entire episode in KU not only epitomizes the ruthlessness and cruelty of Suresh Raj but also their own cowardice. If you all people keep mum and let the criminal continue in his job, and then the days are not far away when the criminal will become more emboldened. And once he/she becomes more emboldened and turns KU into a gas chamber none of you will be safe. At that time, don’t claim that we have not warned you. Your failures to notice the rise of a murderer may have related with you fear psychosis, but perpetuation of the same is very bad. It is clearly providing enough ground to that killer to dig a trench where he can throw and gas anybody he chooses. Mind you all; your silence is turning KU into a murder field where daylight official harassment triggered deaths are also not probed.
